As a founding member of Hõimulõimed, I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in the organisation from the very beginning, shaping its direction and introducing our activities to a broader audience. My heart belongs to music, which is why I’m active in the band Kännu Peal Käbi as a vocalist-jauramist. Additionally, I’ve worked on making kindred peoples’ music more accessible by organising Finno-Ugric discos and creating Uralic-language playlists on music streaming platforms. The future belongs to the next generations; therefore in my work I am especially committed to creating opportunities for young people to take action and contribute to the well-being of our kindred peoples.

Mirjami Sipilä

Secretary

I am a Finn and come from Southwest Finland. The existence of peoples and languages related to Estonian has piqued my interest from a very young age, but in recent years I have started to actively seek and find outlets for my interest in Finno-Ugric studies – this is how I came to join Hõimulõimed in 2024. I am learning Finnish, Livonian and Votic on my own and I spread awareness of Finno-Ugric peoples and their situation among my peers.
